Australian Science Olympiad Summer School

Year 11 student Ahmad Ihsan Mohideen Imran who sat the Bio Olympiads (featured in our last newsletter), received a high distinction putting him in the top 10% in Australia. As a result, Ihsan has now been invited to take part in the exclusive Summer School Program. This is an excellent achievement and we are very proud of Ihsan’s efforts.

What is the Australian Science Olympiads Summer School?

The Australian Science Olympiads Summer School is an enrichment program for secondary school students who are invited to attend based on their performance in the Australian Science Olympiad Exams.

The 2021 Australian Science Olympiads Summer School will be held virtually due to COVID 19 restrictions. Students will work with other students and subject specialists from across Australia, receiving intensive tuition in their chosen discipline.

The work schedule is intense and covers the equivalent of first-year university studies in biology, chemistry, Earth and environmental science and physics. It’s a great head start to further studies and careers in science.

Based on performance at the Australian Science Olympiad Summer School, the top ten students will be invited to attend a week-long residential camp at The Australian National University (ANU), Canberra in April 2021.

High-achieving students who perform well in final selection exams will earn a spot on the Australian Science Olympiads team and go on to compete at the International Science Olympiads – the Olympic Games for science students.

Best of luck Ihsan!
